How about exploring moodle? It seems like something that is easy to deploy and would be useful

Student login is basically crap. It doesnt allow us to know who all are in the class. Doesnt allow students to upload their own material etc. Plus, contacting entire classes is a huge pain.

How do you plan to achieve that by putting moodle on the server. It can be
achieved in other ways as well without bringing moodle into the scene at
all.

I was checking out the moodle website and it has a lot more functions that what they use in the lab. The labs just use it for quizzes and nothing more.

A friend of mine developed a website to get this done. Used JSP.
The whole point being, student login is perfectly functional except that students cant upload things. So in my opinion, its a little pointless.
