List your top 3 tasks or objectives for this week:

Task 1: Research past case-studies to determine a realistic replication task for our simulation.
Task 2: Meet with group in order to establish the overall frame of the project.
Task 3: Read past literature about a neighborhood modeling task.

Weekly Accomplishments

What tasks did you complete this week? (Include links):
This week, I researched past-case studies to see whether there has been an instance of urban planning research done with existing data regarding gentrification. I was able to find a case about Chicago, and the group and I met up to discuss approaching the paper and the overall goal of the project. We then read the paper and took notes (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1las3VVpsNc7XT8271xMoOUxTBqlTQeARLZQTR3QuseU/edit?usp=sharing).

Tasks are still ongoing? Current status?
All tasks for week have been done.

Challenges and Learning
What was the biggest challenge you faced this week? How did you address it?
The biggest challenge that I faced was figuring out the direction of the project. This is because finding an existing case study was difficult. However, through extensive literature review, I was able to find one that made sense with the objectives of the project. Furthermore, through group deliberation, we were able to lay out the overall direction of the project. We hope to replicate the results of the Chicago project, and extrapolate our simulation to the Atlanta BeltLine.

What's one new thing you learned or skill you improved?
I improved my ability to conduct literature review effectively. I was able to find relevant papers pertaining to our project through skimming the abstracts, as well as looking at what journal the paper was published in.

Did you attend any team meetings? Key takeaways?
I was able to attend our Saturday meeting. We established the overall objective of the project of trying to replicate the Chicago paper results, and then extrapolate them to the Atlanta BeltLine.

Reflection and Planning

Your progress this week?
I was research past-case studies, discuss the objective of the project with the group, and conduct literature review.

Main focus for next week?
I will try to create cost functions in the code by reading the methodology section of the Chicago paper more deeply.

Any resources you're looking for? f
Feddback from Dr. Kastner and Dr. Martinez about the new approach.
