Kutzner 2016 defines several types of heterogeneity as documented here
Using these definitions, semantic data loss could be defined as the loss of purely semantic information and may be implicit when performing a highly semantic transformation. Building off of this a purely syntactic transformation would by definition, not lose any semantic information. It should also be noted that transformation often have both semantic and syntactic characteristics.
