github action for pushing after reformatting getting stuck #1201

This is not an immediate urgency.

But the github action to automatically reformat code gets stuck when reformatting is actually needed. This will need some (non-urgent) debugging.

Current workaround is to run the refomatting scripts locally so the action becomes a no-op.
