Game:
Gothic I

Short Description/Observation:
Cannot loot equipped weapon(s) from knocked down or killed NPCs inventory. If the NPC is not wielding the equipped weapon, this weapon cannot be looted later. Drawn weapons can be picked up from the ground as a separate item though.

Expectation: I should be able to loot all weapons and items in general (except armour) from knocked down or killed NPCs.

Steps to reproduce:
I kill an old camps guard with a ranged weapon. The guard fights back using his crossbow. After killing said guard I can pick up the crossbow from the ground but cannot loot the melee weapon from the inventory.

Additional Info:
Screenshot showing killed NPC Okyl, cannot access his equipped but not drawn weapon

addition: same with runes, those cannot be looted even if NPC was in attack mode with that specific rune.

Hi, @Abendlied !

This seem to be incompatibility of gothic2 vs gothic1. In Gothic2 any equipped items are non lootable.
I'm not sure what is correct behavior, from engine side, here:

  • unequip items, when npc is dead/unconscious
  • allow to loot any item, except for armor
  • maybe do nothing on loot side, and check if we missing some call to script

PS
Attempted to test Gothic1- game just crashes on my machine
