<h3> Commencement</h3>
<p>We've had an exciting semester thus far, both at Brown and at The Herald! Christina Paxson, current dean of
Princeton's Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, will replace Simmons as Brown's 19th
president beginning July 2012. Furthermore, the new athletic complex comprising of the Jonathan Nelson '77
Fitness Center was finally completed and opened to the public on April 16, 2012.
In other news, the new Alumni Relations Team has been hard at work raising funds for The Herald's digitization
project. Since the project began in 2008, 42 years of The Herald have been digitized. But, there are still
over 70 years to go. Our goal is to digitize every Herald issue since 1891 and preserve this daily record of
Brown's history.

<h3>End-of-year</h3>
<p>We are happy to announce that we will be launching a new website this winter.
Since September, we have raised $6,865 toward the Financial Aid Initiative thanks to the generosity of alums,
students, and parents. One exciting push this year was The Herald's participation in American Express's Small
Business Saturday. All donations on Saturday, November 24th were subsidized by $25 through the promotion, and
we were able to raise an impressive $2,075 on this day alone. We are close to reaching our goal of $8,000. We
would truly appreciate your support!
