Import of model somtimes fails to complete silently. #163
Comments
Is the machine where the import fails able to import any models? |
Thanks for the prompt reply Daniel.
The user has full permissions on the PC (it is a home machine) – other files appear in that folder but whereas on my computer I get this in the MyGallery sub-folder:
[cid:[email protected]]
He only gets the top two files. If permissions were the problem, I would expect no files here at all, unless it is temporary files somewhere that are the issue. We have tried several different models, using the same model on both machines, always with the same result – I can import, he cannot. The failing machine is a vastly superior spec, so I am puzzled.
Thanks
Stephen Parry

If no models work, it may be a permission problem when writing the files. If that is the issue, Alice should be updated to recognize that and notify the user.

There is a build that has better (OK, any) notification when the gallery IO fails. This is not an official release, but it should provide some kind of insight as to why this fails on a specific machine. I am not sure if you would be concerned, but it seems responding to this issue by email includes your address on the posted answer, but does not include images. |
When importing the same simple cube model on two different machines running the exact same version of Alice, one generates the model fine, the other generates the a3t and a3c, but no json or other metadata. The model does not appear in the gallery in this case. No error message is produced, and I cannot find any kind of error log. Everything else in Alice seems to function identically on both machines.
