As game sessions progress, players often want to revisit past decisions, events, and key moments. Currently, there's no way to quickly recap or review what transpired in previous sessions. Having a Session Summary and Historical Archive feature can greatly enhance player engagement and immersion. It allows players to reflect on their journey, understand the consequences of their decisions, and prepare for future sessions with a clear understanding of past events.

I propose the development of a Session Summary feature. At the end of each game session, the GPT Dungeon Master should generate a concise summary of key events, decisions, and outcomes. These summaries should then be stored in a Historical Archive, allowing players to review and reflect on past sessions.

Proposed Features:

  • Automatic Summarization: At the end of each session, generate a summary highlighting major events, player decisions, NPC interactions, and any other significant occurrences.
  • Historical Archive: Store each session summary in a dedicated archive, organized by date or session number.
  • Export Option: Provide players with the option to export a session summary as a PDF or text file for external storage or sharing.

This langchain doc tells of a method to accomplish this: https://python.langchain.com/docs/modules/memory/types/summary

My previous game master leading the Roleplaying game Fabula used to write a summary of each session with the players at the start of the sessions. At the end of the campaign, we used to get a copy of the A3 parchment and these was of large value for me and my friends and I still reminisce about these campains.
