Star glow, haze, and diffraction spikes

When the "Magnitude limit" is increased, the stellarium app does three things:

1. Adjusts the magnitude limit
2. Adds glow/haze around brighter stars
3. Adds diffraction spikes around brighter stars

Examples Below.

Is there a way to disable (2) and (3)? My goal is to see an image similar to what I expect when looking through binoculars.

I suspect the stellarium software renders "simulated stars" overlayed with a real image (w/diffraction spikes). I'd like to just get the "simulated stars" if possible

No, AFAIK.

Exactly. Stellarium Mobile doesn't have an option to turn off the sky survey. If you want to disable it and see only the simulated stars, you'll have to use desktop Stellarium.
