On Android 12, Moto XT2215-4 in USA on Verizon. Using the latest version of the app from here.
*86 is the code to dial voicemail. Other dialers have no problems with this. When I assign a voicemail contact with *86 as its sole phone numbem to speed dial 1 and use it, not only does it not work but it causes the dialer app to freeze up, disconnect from the cell network, and report USSD problem from Verizon. It can often take some time for the cell network to re-connect and settle down again.
If I call this contact by tapping the phone icon in the app's contact list (or from Simple Contacts app) it is dialed + works perfectly. If I dial *86 with the number pad, it works perfectly. So the issue is in Speed Dial somewhere.
This is rather a problem since the same seems to happen for all similar codes (like check balance). I can work around the voice mail problem by assigning my cell number for this phone to speed dial 1 and using that. But it seems to be a more general problem. And again, I have no problem with this using the crappy, Google dialer that comes on the phone.
What to do? Thanks!
