Hydrogen 2.0 - is there a beta available?

Hi!

I do want to use the Hydrogen framework to develop our e-commerce store. Right now it is an headless store built with Gatsby and the Storefront API but I do want to wait a bit for the 2.0 version of Hydrogen since I read about the core changes it will have. Will there be an early version available so we can already test and start the development process?

Will it be released in February? Looking really forward to it!

For the time being, you can start migrating your project to Remix and get familiar with it (moving Storefront API calls to loaders, etc). Then, updating it to use Hydrogen should be really easy once we have releases and docs in place (soon™).

And use Hydrogen UI? Or just straight Storefront API calls

For fetching data you need straight Storefront API calls with fetch or similar, but you can rely on Hydrogen UI utilities to set proper headers in your request.
Aside from that, other utilities like flattenConnection or components like Money, Image, Video, MediaFile, etc. should work as well. Things related to Cart may work but we will have new ways to implement it in a Remix world.

Thanks for the response regarding migration to Remix. Do you know if a Remix app will work at this time when deployed to Oxygen?

I believe it should - provided you're not using any libraries that are node-specific or rely on node internals; Oxygen is a Workers-based runtime, so there are limitation there.

You probably want the Storefront Kit, and then use GraphQL to access the Storefront API.

The shopify-api-js package in your link is for the Admin API, which is probably not what you are looking for.
