Historical Note

The origin of this collection is currently unknown. The collection was
sent to an audio reformatting vendor in 2015 for assessment. The sound
engineer's comments concerning the condition of the spools is included in the
container list. It was determined that the cost of digital reformatting was
beyond what the current budget for such work will allow. The dates of the
collection are an estimate based on the dates during which wire recordings were
at the height of their popularity in the United States.

Scope and Content Note

The collection contains 18 wire recordings. The contents can only be
confirmed once the recordings have been reformatted. Notes concerning contents
in the container list are based on inscriptions on the spools or their
containers. This information is unclear in many cases.
