Just filing this as a parallel to: RoboStack/jupyter-ros#12

(The distinction between these two packages are a still bit unclear, per brief comment in #3; I dunno if jupyter-ros supporting ROS2 implies that this will work too, or if it's two separate efforts...)

Hi @EricCousineau-TRI thanks for opening this issue!
There is a fork of jupyter-ros that does support ROS 2. We will need to coordinate an effort to merge the fork, and see if we can merge jupyter-ros and jupyterlab-ros where it makes sense.

Do you think TRI could be interested in helping to bring ROS 2 support to this extension?
We will hopefully soon start publishing ROS2 packages to our conda channel as well :)

Howdy @wolfv! Sorry for the delay, but there is a possibility, but we're still discussing - will let you know if it becomes more concrete!

In the meantime, might you still have a link to the forks which support ROS 2? (is it a branch here?)
