Best way to advertise a release?

I am in the middle of writing a substack email about the release of 2.1 and finding myself annoyed at having so many different channels to deal with, resulting in information being spread around the internet. So I'm thinking about options:

• We now have Discussions on Github, which we could use to make these sorts of general announcements, and notify people via twitter.
• We also have the ablog plugin running on the pmeal site, which seems to work quite well, especially given the ability to write a fully featured jupyter notebook and convert it to a blog post.
• Adding ablog to the current porespy site is probably not a good idea since it requires rebuilding the docs each time you post. However, we could create a new repo called porespy-blog, which has the same theme and look as the main site, then link to it from the navbar of porespy.org. I think we could setup the DNS to host this site at blob.porespy.org.
• If we ditch substack, then we can no longer ping people via email, only by twitter. I personally do not use twitter, but I think I'm an outlier. We could keep substack and only use it to notify people of releases and to direct people to the 'real' article (either the ablog post or the github discussion)
