Python version not supported message displayed for almost any pre-GUI error state

This message is displayed for seemingly any error state reached before the GUI is initialized. See the following conversation which took quite a while, but the end result was the user had extracted a development version to a directory where they did not have file write or create permissions. Moving the folder to the Desktop stopped the error from appearing:
