Show gender and plural forms for German #78
Comments
The gender is shown (even twice in German). There are imho only very few words that have identical singular form and identical genus and category, but different plural forms. In (almost) all languages, there are words there are words that have the identical stem. English is no different there. People should therefore always think on whether that might be the case for a word. Disabling seems quite harsh, since then it would make sense to disable the tool all together. (Which some people do suggest) |
Actually, the current querry checks for homographs and excludes all words that have a homograph marked. In the past I had a querry to search for homographs that were not marked as such and fixed them regularly. Probably none is doing this now anymore and therefore there are more unmarked homographs… |
Another thing that might help a bit is to make the genus mandatory: Line 7 in acf772b

There are currently 8 such words: https://w.wiki/3vCr |
"another issue is that in german, the meaning depends on the gender and plural forms, but those aren't shown (as far as I know)" from Nikki in the tg chat.
We should make it easy for the user to decide whether it is a match or not.
I suggest disabling German until this is fixed to avoid garbage edits.
