Hi there!
Would it be possible to support Python 3.9 with pyngl on conda? (pynio not needed since there are simple alternatives)
Currently there are versions for Python 3.5-3.8 available on conda. At least for me porting pyngl plotting code to cartopy requires a real lot more work than pynio file reading code and it would be nice to continue supporting old pyngl plotting scripts!
Under the pyngl ucar faq site in "General questions 2." it states that Python 3.x is supported so if you can't make it to support any further versions than Python 3.8 with pyngl maybe you could update this page to let everyone know that support ends with Python 3.8. Thanks!

We have put PyNGL into maintenance mode a long while ago and announced this in several community updates. For example, please see November 2020 Update. We have also put links to these announcements on PyNGL and NCL websites. In the maintenance mode, we are not planning to support newer Python versions. However, your reminder is much helpful; we should update our FAQs and put some information there about this.
On the other hand, I would like to let you know our new Python graphics library that replaces PyNGL: GeoCAT-examples. You can find several plotting examples from NCL graphics library that are implemented in pure Python language with matplotlib and cartopy as Python scripts and Jupyter notebooks.
Please let me know if that works for you and if I can e of any further help.
