Different IP checking sites show different address after VPN tethering

I connected to VPN and tethered it to my PC. 2 sites for checking IP and DNS leaks show me my new IP (of my VPN provider). One of them shows my old IP, of my ISP. And it doesn't seem like the VPN is actually working (I can't open some blocked sites). What's going on? Tried updating from 2.15.4 to 2.15.5, rebotting both my phone and my PC, changing VPN server location, cleaning cache of VPNHotspot, didn't help.

P.S. The VPN itself is working fine on the phone (without tethering), the problems only arise when using the app.

UPD: apparently it works fine on my Linux machine, the problem is only with the Windows machine. It worked fine earlier, and I don't think I really changed anything about my system to cause such weird behavior.

Both IP checking sites now show my VPN IP, so no leak, but now I get PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR while trying to connect to some sites.

UPD: somehow the problem disappeared by itself.
