Can't use Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi hotspot at the same time on MIUI for Android 12?

As shown in the following video, after using VPN Hotspot to open the Wi-Fi hotspot while connected to a Wi-Fi network (as an extender), the Wi-Fi hotspot will be automatically closed once left the app.

Everything works fine while using mobile data, as the video shown below.

When I use the Wi-Fi Hotspot switch in the system settings, the extender works properly. But when I open the VPN Hotspot, it was automatically turned off.

I did not have this issue before I updated to Android 12. Any workaround or is this a restriction (like battery saver?) by MIUI?

Looks like a MIUI thing. Use system Wi-Fi switch for now if it works better for you.

The hotspot was turned off whenever I open/leave VPN Hotspot app, which prevents me from using the "routing" toggle. However, the "Repeater" works flawlessly.

You can turn on hotspot from system settings and then turn on the switch in the app.
