I can't believe the debian package would be broken and mixing up lua 5.1 with 5.2
The guy just changes the way he installs lua-socket using luarocks package manager but it's still the same code and functionalities. minetest-irc mod's code hasn't change.

So i'd say: don't do this unless you really have a problem with the debian package, which i doubt.

It could maybe help. Considering we've failed to update IRC every single time we tried, why not do this. However, we should put this in a separate branch.
