I very often listen to my whole library shuffling all tracks.
In navidrome that I use to host my library, there are dedicated artist/songs panels, and I miss it a lot in terminal.

We can also go further and implement other types, like browsing by artist or playlists. Depends if others consider it useful.

I would see it implemented as few sections on the left (artists, songs, playlists below current albums section), where we can either see all of them together or have a configurable shortcut to switch active type.
Turning them on and off can be useful to let everyone customize their navigation experience.

Hi, thank you for your feature request. After reading it, I am not sure I follow you. You are asking for new sections but I don't really understand which ones since we already have implemented album selections and playlist selections. So the only ones left are artists and songs, right?

I have added a screenshot displaying what we have implemented (marked in green) and what now (marked in red).
I think adding top rated and radios are not really relevant so have left them unmarked.

@mateuszsip I found a work around using Navidrome's smart-playlists beta feature:

Create a navidrome smart playlist file in the same folder as other m3u playlists called something like all_songs.nsp with the following contents:

The name 0 was just so that its sorted at the top of the playlist list in subtui for easy access. You can read more about smart playlists here.

As for implementing more sidebar features, here are some options based on the opensubsonic api:

Artists:

* subtui could manage its own history, but not possible from the API directly

And sidebar configuration could potentially be managed in the config like so:

I would like to basically have these 2 you marked red, with similar items to ones we have for albums. Of course considering what api supports.

@aaron-r-campbell described it very well, I didn't check API capabilities before, lack of endpoint to list of all tracks is surprising.

Sidebar customization can totally work like you described - of course if we want to add more sections.
Easy to remove them, reorder 👍

And smart playlist sounds like a neat workaround, thanks! Now I just put some 2 letters in search bar and shuffle 😄
