Code of Conduct

We are committed to maintaining a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming environment for everyone using or contributing to YouTubeBot. By participating in this project, you agree to abide by the following guidelines.

Our Standards

We strive to create a positive environment by encouraging:

  • Respectful Communication: Be kind and considerate in all interactions, whether in code, comments, or discussions on IRC.
  • Inclusivity: Welcome diverse perspectives and ensure everyone feels safe and valued.
  • Collaboration: Work together to solve problems and share knowledge.
  • Constructive Feedback: Provide feedback that is helpful, respectful, and aimed at improvement.

Unacceptable behaviors include:

  • Harassment: Any form of verbal, written, or physical abuse, intimidation, or threats.
  • Discrimination: Disrespect or exclusion based on race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or any other characteristic.
  • Trolling: Disruptive or inflammatory comments, or intentionally derailing discussions.
  • Spam and Malicious Behavior: Irrelevant content, spamming commands, or using the bot to distribute harmful content.

Using YouTubeBot on IRC

When interacting with YouTubeBot or other users on IRC, adhere to these additional rules:

  1. Avoid spamming commands like !yt search excessively in a short time frame.
  2. Refrain from sharing inappropriate YouTube links or channel names.
  3. Use appropriate language and respect the channel guidelines for the IRC server.

Reporting Issues

If you experience or witness unacceptable behavior, please report it by contacting the server administrators or project maintainers via GitHub issues or the IRC channel #opers. Provide as much detail as possible, and we will handle the matter confidentially and appropriately.

Enforcement

The maintainers are responsible for enforcing this Code of Conduct and have the right to:

  • Remove, edit, or reject comments, commits, code, and other contributions that violate these guidelines.
  • Ban users temporarily or permanently from using or contributing to the project.
  • Restrict access to YouTubeBot on IRC for users who fail to comply with the rules.
