update to InfluxDB 2 Go client

Any chance this could be updated to use the InfluxDB 2 Go client while possibly using the InfluxDB 1.8 API compatibility to maintain 1.8 compatibility such that it would support both InfluxDB 1.8 and 2.x (assuming 1.8 compatibility is still desired)?

Currently I'm using InfluxDB 2.7 with the built in data scraper and the Prometheus metrics endpoint which works, but native 2.x client compatibility seems like a nice addition if not too much work.
