Multiple files, massive change, and no real way to figure out how to get something working

I tried duplicating the phillips tv example, no luck. Where is there a good place to figure out how this is supposed to work. Some basic instructions would be quite helpful. All the info I have been able to find wants me to put everything in the configuration.yaml mentions nothing about the scripts.yaml or the tv_phillips.yaml so no real understanding how to call these files. Any documentation would be useful here.
