From ESP8266 to MKR1000

I've been using this library for years and it has been working perfectly on ESP8266.
Lately I started to use the Arduino MKR1000s boards.

What will it take to convert this library to support MKR1000? Is anyone working on it?

I am not aware of some one working on it.
But a port can be done relative easy when the Arduino default Client / Server APIs are used by the MKR1000.
