Constant stream of messages from Moes BHT-006 thermostat

Hi, I've hooked-up a batch of Moes BHT-006 thermostats to Zigbee2MQTT and noticed in the logs that I'm getting a constant stream of status messages - about 10 per second per device (!) - all identical apart from the 'linkquality' field. This doesn't feel normal... anyone seen anything like this before?

Hi @rot169, I am seeing the same, it seems that sometiomes completely blocks the ZigBee network.
Did you figure anything out? Is there a way to reduce the amount of messages?

Hi @nilshoell, I eneded up setting the 'Debounce' setting to 5s for each of the thermostats. That means that if repeated messages are recieved within a 5 second period, they're dropped and only a single instance of the message appears in zigbee2mqtt. This helps avoid a lot of junk in the logs. But it's not really a fix, it's just masking the problem - the devices are still screaming out a ton of messages and blocking the airwaves. I expect the only fix for that is a firmware update, but I've not seen any available. Have you?

Not sure if it's related, but I've found I've needed to activate the screen lock on each stat as they have a tendency to generate a bust of 'ghost' presses of the top-rightmost button even when I'm nowhere near them. (It's been a bit annoying having to do this, but as I do all control through Homeassistant it's not a dealbreaker for me.) I'm curious whether you're also encountering this, and whether it may be related to the bursts of zigbee messages? (Maybe some really weird earthing thing...?!?)

Thanks, the debounce at least makes the MQTT logs a lot more usable, but yeah, the packets are still flying over the Zigbee network.
I don't have any ghost inputs, but I do have issues getting anything sent to the devices. So configuring the setpoint or local-temperature_calibration etc. is impossible for some, in two cases the temp calibration got stuck at the end of the integer range (e.g. + 10062232 °C) with nothing being able to fix that.
The devices also don't show up as thermostats in HomeAssistant for me, did you do anything special? I tried filtering out the program object in z2m, because otherwise HA would complain about the large state, but that didn't help. All in all a bit frustrating 😅

I have 30 TYBAC-006 devices in one installation.
I had to create 4 different networks because the amount of messages they send is impressive.

I have noticed that not all devices do this; out of the 30, about 6 are continuous...

We use an SLZB-06P as a coordinator, we have tried with 3 different ones; with 8 different channels, with various different cables... Now we have tried with an SLZB-06 that we had and the same thing happens.

It's a shame because the thermostat works very well, but that...

Is there any way to solve it? With debounce, I can't get it to work well; in the end, it saturates the network and blocks the coordinator.

I've accepted the fact that these are just cheap crap and Moes doesn't care. Their customer support refused to provide any firmware update. Hopefully others will stumble across this thread and steer well clear of this e-waste.
