Purpose of downloading Files?

So, I wanted to ask,

1. why are you unable to download whole playlists but only single songs at the time?,
2. Whats really the point of downloading audio files, if the player doesn't work online?`
3. And last but not least, ist the client goingto be like free spotify premium in the furture (downloads).
