<h2>Report a Crime</h2>
<p>For crimes in progress, always call <strong>911</strong>. To report a crime after the fact or provide an anonymous tip, use the JCPD Tip Line at <strong>855-JCP-TIPS</strong> or email <strong>policetips@njjcps.org</strong>.</p>
<p>For non-emergency quality-of-life issues like broken streetlights, graffiti, or illegal dumping, use <a href="https://seeclickfix.com/jersey-city">SeeClickFix</a> or call the Resident Response Center at (201) 547-4900.</p>
<h2>Police Districts</h2>
<p>Journal Square sits near the boundary of two JCPD districts. Use the <a href="https://data.jerseycitynj.gov/explore/dataset/police-districts/map/" target="_blank">Police Districts Map</a> to confirm which district covers your address.</p>

<li><strong>West District</strong> – 1 Jackson Street, Jersey City, NJ 07304</li>
<li><strong>North District</strong> – 282 Central Avenue, Jersey City, NJ 07307</li>
</ul>
<p>JCPD Headquarters is located at Two Jackson Sq. (356 MLK Drive).</p>
<h2>Community Policing Programs</h2>
<p>The JCPD Community Relations Unit runs several programs to build trust between officers and residents:</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Coffee with a Cop</strong> – Informal meet-ups to break down barriers between police and citizens.</li>
<li><strong>ARRIVE Together</strong> – Plain-clothed officers and mental health professionals jointly respond to mental health emergencies.</li>
</ul>
<h2>Pedestrian Safety & Vision Zero</h2>
<p>Jersey City adopted <a href="https://www.jerseycitynj.gov/cityhall/infrastructure/transportation_resources/visionzero" target="_blank">Vision Zero</a>, committing to eliminate all traffic fatalities and serious injuries on city streets. Improvements include daylighting intersections, narrowing lane widths, adding speed humps, and building protected bike lanes.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.safestreetsjerseycity.org" target="_blank">Safe Streets JC</a> is one of the city's most active advocacy organizations working to achieve zero traffic deaths through education and community outreach.</p>
<h2>Bike Safety</h2>
<ul>
<li><a href="https://www.jerseycitynj.gov/cityhall/infrastructure/transportation_resources/protectedbikelanes" target="_blank">Protected Bike Lanes</a> – Jersey City is expanding its protected bike lane network, including on Bergen Avenue between Journal Square and McGinley Square.</li>
<li><a href="https://www.bikejc.org/" target="_blank">Bike JC</a> – A volunteer-based nonprofit advocating for safer cycling, hosting group rides, and organizing the annual Jersey City Ward Tour.</li>
<li><a href="https://www.jerseycitynj.gov/cityhall/infrastructure/citi_bike_expansion" target="_blank">Citi Bike</a> – Bike-share stations throughout Journal Square. Find stations on the <a href="https://account.citibikenyc.com/map" target="_blank">Citi Bike map</a>.</li>
</ul>
<h2>Emergency Preparedness</h2>
<ul>
<li><a href="https://www.jerseycitynj.gov/cityhall/public_safety/OEM" target="_blank">Office of Emergency Management</a> – Sign up for <strong>AlertJC</strong> to receive emergency notifications.</li>
<li><a href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/JerseyCityCERTPublic/" target="_blank">Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)</a> – Volunteer to help prepare for and respond to emergencies like flooding, snowstorms, and power outages.</li>

<p>If you have safety concerns in Journal Square, attend one of our monthly meetings. We can connect you with the right city departments and advocacy organizations.</p>
<p>Meetings are held on the <strong>second Monday of every month at 7 PM</strong> at 71 Sip Ave., 6th Floor, Jersey City.</p>
