The installation instructions referenced in README.md apply to Raspbian Buster. I think this should be mentioned.

Also, how does one know if the update regarding DT overlay applies to ones hat?

DT overlay isn't updated otherwise there would be compatibility issues with older versions of the kernel.

That’s the instructions I mean. They apply to Raspian Buster but it doesn’t say that anywhere.
I believe the process for Raspbian Stretch is different.

And in the „Updates“ section please define „now“.

It should be the same as long as you update Stretch to it's latest possible kernel version

Okay. I have not tested it but I had found this post by the author of the patch before and he describes different steps for Buster and Stretch.
