D455 on moving platform

Hello,
I am working on a project that measures material volume (outdoors) on a platform that moves between is 3.5 and 7.5 m/s (600 and 1400 fpm).
Do you think the Intel Realsense D455 is suitable for the task?

Hi @jrecasens The D455 is capable of capturing colour and depth information whilst moving fast or observing fast moving objects from a fixed position. For example, it can render depth smoothly whilst attached to a vehicle travelling at full speed, like in the video at the link below taken with the similar D435 model.

The D455 also has excellent depth accuracy over distance, being able to retain accuracy when observing objects / surfaces that are at up to 6 meters distance from the camera before accuracy starts to noticably reduce beyond that distance.

The D455 should ideally be positioned at a minimum distance of around 0.5 meters / 50 cm away from the platform. If your project requires the camera to be closer to the platform then the D435 model would be the best choice, as it has a minimum depth sensing distance of only 0.1 m / 10 cm from an object / surface.
