Just noticed that CasaOS already uses mergerFS in the background: The combination of mergerFS and snapRAID is used by many users of OpenMediaVault to replicate some of the core functionality of Unraid. With mergerFS already being used in CasaOS, adding snapRAID would be the perfect complement. |

The secret sauce behind the popularity of NAS OS giants like Synology and Unraid? Their flexible mixed drive RAID. Easy expansion and drive swaps are huge wins for homelabs and small businesses. With Synology's brand-specific drive policy and Unraid's rising licensing costs, the stage is set for a new contender. CasaOS, are you ready to seize the moment? Implementing robust mixed drive RAID could be the killer feature that makes you the go-to open-source NAS solution. Let's make storage upgrades and replacements a breeze! Coming from OpenMediaVault, the main thing I'm missing is support for snapRAID, as an user friendly solution for storage parity, backups and protection against bit rod.
See the official comparison charts for all the possible benefits snapRAID would bring to CasaOS users:

OpenMediaVault has a nice plugin, that allows snapRAID be controlled over the GUI instead of the terminal. Maybe the plugin could acts as a base for integrating snapRAID into CasaOS?
