This appears to be a real issue that we'll want to fix, eventually (whether we want to fix it in this, "old"/jsf UI is a separate question). On a somewhat positive side, we have discovered the hard way that this Globus storage model does not work particularly well with datasets with large numbers of files, for all sorts of other reasons. Because of that, we now very specifically advice all the potential users of Globus-accessible NESE storage at IQSS to package their data in as large bundles as possible, and have as few files per dataset as possible. We are not planning to host datasets with non-public files, or datasets with a mix of Globus and non-Globus stored files in the immediate future. So, the "positive side" is that our real-life users are not likely to be affected by this issue in the immediate future.
