What steps does it take to reproduce the issue?

  • When does this issue occur?

When contacting the owner and incorrectly answering the question for "Please fill this out to prove you are not a robot."

  • Which page(s) does it occurs on?

Any dataset record page.

  • What happens?

In the modal, a helpful message appears

Incorrect sum, please try again.

On the main page behind the modal, A banner appears with the text:

Validation Error – Required fields were missed or there was a validation error. Please scroll down to see details.

  • To whom does it occur (all users, curators, superusers)?
    All users

  • What did you expect to happen?
I'd expect the error message in the modal to appear as it does now, but the banner is confusing. I'd either expect it not to appear, or to have a more helpful message.

Which version of Dataverse are you using?
6.3 build 1607-8c99a74

Any related open or closed issues to this bug report?

@RemieJanssen hi! Makes sense to me. I don't think we'll edit the old JSF page but I put a note on this issue in the frontend repo (we are rewriting the frontend in React):
