Hi sorry for the long wait, never got a notification and it's been a little bit since I've looked at the repo.
In case you didn't know, there is a toggle that allows you to set whether you want the led color to be held on or not (static ending)
However, it should go off if you put your 3ds into sleep mode and then wake it up (the "wake up" pattern should trigger, which by default is a pattern full of #000000, so turning off the LED)
If that's not the problem, then try setting the smoothness a bit lower. This is a hardware/software relation problem that i can't fix, it's how the smoothness curve is defined that makes it hold a weird dark blue or red depending on your values
I'd generally recommend staying between 0x00 and 0x7f included, if you want to go to the extremes I've tested that 0x8d is the maximum you can get without having this weird color holding (at least on my 3ds)
I know this is and old thread but my solution to this was just use the default led, test it out then go to Home. It's a temporary fix but it does the job
