When I open a specific article inside a GitBook space in Chrome on my MacBook Pro (M4), then perform the following sequence:
Upon waking the machine, the GitBook article tab starts consuming 100% CPU (1 full core). This high CPU usage persists until the GitBook article tab is closed.
This issue only occurs when:

Impact:
This causes overheating and battery drain even when the device appears idle. It seems to be related to GitBook's frontend handling of offline + background + sleep transitions on article pages.
