Hello.

I have created a MCP to interface with GitBook. Whilst I love the GitHub Copilot plugin, it’s limited in the AI tools that can access the content. I created this MCP so we can get context with our content regardless of the AI client (given that it supports MCP).

Thanks for sharing, @rickysullivan! This is a really cool contribution. I also like that with your new docs, we can use this MCP server to ask about the GitBook docs for this MCP server :)

I've been trying this with Claude and it works pretty well. One thing is that while Claude can use the API calls at the top of this page, it doesn't seem to recognize the prompts.. Do I need to do anything special to use these?

What else I can do to help here?

Are you talking about Claude Code or Claude Desktop?

So far, I have only tested in Claude Desktop and GitHub Copilot for VS Code and JetBrains IDEs.

I will give Claude Code a go and see what happens.

Hey @rickysullivan, I've just been testing with Claude Desktop. When I ask Claude to list all of the commands it can run it gives me:

Organization & Space Management:

list_organizations - List all GitBook organizations accessible with the current API token
list_spaces - List all spaces in a GitBook organization, optionally filtered by organization ID
get_space - Get detailed information about a specific GitBook space
get_space_content - Get the complete content structure and page hierarchy of a GitBook space

Page Content Access:

get_page_content - Retrieve the content of a specific page from a GitBook space, with options for format and metadata
get_page_by_path - Retrieve a page from a GitBook space using its path instead of page ID
search_content - Search for content within a GitBook space using a text query

File Management:

get_space_files - List all files (images, documents, etc.) uploaded to a GitBook space
get_file - Get detailed information about a specific file uploaded to a GitBook space

Collection Management:

list_collections - List all collections in a GitBook organization, optionally filtered by organization ID
get_collection - Get detailed information about a specific GitBook collection
get_collection_spaces - List all spaces that belong to a specific GitBook collection

Any ideas why that might be?

With Claude Desktop to use prompts, you need to "attach" them:

Then select the prompt:

Which opens the prompt input:

Which results in an attached text file:

A bit strange, but that's how Claude Desktop does it.
