meanwhile, i've implemented changes and additions on https://github.com/hayguen/clipgrab ,
which look quite good for ME,
implementing several issues i had opened here like

• mono: issue mono for audio only formats #8
• quality for audio only formats: quality for audio only formats #7
• and some more ..
• providing an AppImage at https://github.com/hayguen/clipgrab/releases

however, i got no response from the original author .. and fear, that he's not gonna merge my changes.
thus, you'll get merge problems with his future versions!
.. and i don't want to "support" further changes .. !?
don't know, how to continue!
