Freetube downloaded from official website installs OK but will not run

I downloaded the new 23.2 beta from the freetube website, open the folder and click install. It installs but when I click the freetube start icon it does not launch. Launching from terminal gives this error message:
[140719:0223/160931.049608:FATAL:setuid_sandbox_host.cc(163)] The SUID sandbox helper binary was found, but is not configured correctly. Rather than run without sandboxing I'm aborting now. You need to make sure that /opt/FreeTube/chrome-sandbox is owned by root and has mode 4755.
Trace/breakpoint trap (core dumped)
Edit to add- If I install from the app center it installs and runs OK but it is installing the older supported version.
Running latest Ubuntu.
