It's crazy that it's been almost a decade since @endtwist and I sat down to compare notes on "what currently sucks in web development" and came up with the idea for this gem. Never expected it to find a place in so many people's workflows!

These days, neither of us are close to this problem anymore. But many still are, and we're open to the idea of turning this project over to folks who are in a better position to lead it. We've already gotten help from others in the past, most notably @JakeBeresford.

I'd like to hold an open discussion here about what people's priorities are and what a path forward might look like. For example:

  • Are there any popular forks that you've been using instead of this one?
  • What edge cases are you worried about?
  • How can the overall workflow be improved?

Would like to update this gem. It is used in ForkAwesome ForkAwesome/Fork-Awesome#418 which needs an update. Rubygems also has a process to add/update maintainers https://blog.rubygems.org/2022/01/19/rubygems-adoptions.html

@kaizau At a minimum can we get a new release with some of the dependency fixes? They are relatively straightforward and would alleviate one of the biggest pain points (as illustrated by the number of forks above).

@bkmgit Would really appreciate that. Can you create an updated PR?

@kaizau you don't merge pull requests, for example: #371 What's the point of making new ones? Maybe you can transfer this project to someone, who will maintain it and release new versions to Rubygems? (I'm ready :)
