Backlink: §2020-05-10-1552 Zetteldeft ID and link concepts
A backlink is not a special link in any technical sense, but refers to links at the top of a note that refer “back” to related, overarching topics. In this way, a backlink connects to a “parent” note, from which the current note branches out.
Backlinks appear at the top of notes and contain a prefix string, a note link, and a title.
Use zetteldeft-backlink-add
(or C-c d b
) to pick a note to backlink to.
The function will then include a link at the top of your current note.
This backlink is prepended with zetteldeft-backlink-prefix
, which can be a custom string.
For customizations on where in the current buffer the backlink should be inserted, customize zetteldeft-backlink-location-function
.
See the documentation for details.
To create a new note and include a backlink to the current note in one go, use zetteldeft-new-file-and-backlink
(or C-c d B
).
If, rather than a single backlink, you want to find all notes linking to the current note, call zetteldeft-search-current-id
(C-c d c
) or take a look at §2020-08-29-1223 Automated list of backlinks.
