[This ticket should probably go somewhere else but I'm using this repo as a catch-all right now]

Develop out a use Case for semantically-enabled Integration of Distributed Salmon data (e.g. IYS, DOF, ADFG, SASAP). I copied this text from our Google Doc and could use some help filling it in and differentiating it from #76. @mpsaloha @mbjones @samanthacsik

Was chatting with @mpsaloha earlier and wanted to add some detail about what this could look like.

  1. Use case: As a scientist, I want to be able to perform a semantic search and be show which columns in which files in matching packages actually matched my semantic search.
  • How we might implement/demo this: When searching in the MetacatUI catalog, you currently lose all context of your search when you are navigated to the dataset landing page. It seems like we could show users what part of the landing page matched their search.
  1. Use case: As a scientist, I want to be able to bring semantic information into my analytical tools and perform data manipulation or statistical routines on the data in a semantically-rich way.
  • How we might implement this/demo: We have enough already to create an R script or even package to (1) do a semantic search against DataONE (2) filter to just the entities that caused the match against our semantic search, (3) download just those entities, and (4) bring into our analytical environment with associated semantic metadata
