Contao-Admins can move Documents in the backend into an other category. Other backend users are not allowed to do that.
Where are this rights managed? Can I change this behavior or is this a bug?

I have tested this and can confirm. Currently I don't know how this should be managed. I need a deeper look into the core code.

Just to mention: generally the DMS should be used in the frontend. The backend integration is only intended to be used for administration.

In the frontend it is not possible to move Documents to other categories. I did't check yet, if all categories are available in the "edit document" template. If so, I could extent the form with a select field for the categorie and move the document in the frontend. But should it then be possible for the user to put the document in categories he has no rights for? I don't think so. So it would be nice to have the categories available in the edit-template, the user has write rights for. Moving a bulk of documents would be easier in the backend.

In the end these are two things.

On the one hand this ticket is a feature request for the backend.

On the other side, a separate ticket is needed as a feature request for the frontend. Only extending the form will not be the solution.
