Download stats in Google Analytics broken #4
Comments
According to https://validator.w3.org/checklink, links pointing to releases on github are blocked by robots.txt:
However, there is no robots.txt explicitly defined for the site, so it must be something github adds (though http://www.beast2.org/robots.txt goes to the 404.html page). Perhaps this has something to do with why the events defined for downloads are not tracked. |
…Helps tracking downloads via page counts #4
For each download, there is now a separate page (which also contains trouble shooting info) for each OS and with/without JRE. Google analytics already tracks page downloads. Every page automatically downloads a release version, so page counts = download counts. |
Goal statistics in Google Analytics stopped at switch over to Jekyll, so somehow links do not get properly tracked.
https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/1136920?hl=en talks about tracking "events" instead of "goals", though is easy to implement.
Events can be found in analytics under Behviour/Events.
