All Stakeholders of MyData Ontology,

Should this repo move to the new IEEE Standards Association Open source forum at https://saopen.ieee.org ?

Some reasons to stay (or delay)

  1. Remain a repo of this CCO Github, which we extend from.
  2. Avoid the turmoil

Some reasons to move now:

  1. If our goal is standardize MyData Ontology within IEEE, this is a step in that direction.
  2. IEEE SA Open provides open source help such as with licenses. It appears the IEEE Gitlab offers more functions than the free version of Github. And we could be a Gitlab top level organization rather than just a repo of CCO, if it matters.
  3. Cyber Ontology is set up there (See https://opensource.ieee.org/cyber-ontology-working-group)
  4. We can still point to and align with CCO.
  5. The IEEE SA Open Gitlab site will assure MyData Global we are developing MyData Ontology under an established Open Source organization.

Request thoughts from stakeholders.

I think the primary need right now is to expand the user base. I don't have an educated opinion as to whether that need is better served by keeping the repo here or by moving it to IEEE but perhaps other stakeholders have knowledge on this point. I'll go with whatever route is deemed best.

Agree with Ron. I doubt there would be much turmoil since the current user base is small. Isn't it true that CCO will also be moving its repo to IEEE sometime in near future?

What are the requirements for starting a project or group and getting a repo there? Can you point to some documentation?

Mark, Casey, who can be reached at his new email [email protected] set up https://opensource.ieee.org/cyber-ontology-working-group so he can advise. If you do set it up, I suggest a short names, e.g., https://opensource.ieee.org/mydata-ontology If you need IEEE membership, we can use my mine. Also, I don't think it matters if CCO moves or when.
