Installing with pixi

pixi is a more modern package manager and is lightweight

pixi global install --environment cadquery --channel cadquery --channel conda-forge cq-editor

The above will create a standalone environment named cadquery and install cq-editor from cadquery and its dependencies from conda-forge channel.

Better mention it in wiki.

Agree, it is a good option especially for beginners who don't know how to manage a python env with conda/mamba/micromamba.

I tried pixi recently after a googlegroup post from a user that mentions they do not know conda/pip. A global pixi env should be simpler to manage in that case. I did not post the pixi solution because the user was ultimately successful with conda constructor method which is another good solution for beginners.

cadquery standalone latest release version exposed globally as pycq:
pixi global install -e cq --expose pycq=python cadquery

cq-editor global env master (or expose as different name if you have existing envs):
pixi global install -e cqe --expose cq-editor=cq-editor -c cadquery -c conda-forge cq-editor=master
