Suggestion from RC (ping @attesillanpaa @rkronberg ):

How is software citation 'handled' in your research field?
In remote sensing, quite often software is not cited or not cited correctly. However, at least some journals now also require correct software citation. And having been through the process of finding the 'right way' to cite software recently myself, I do understand now: It is not always clear how to cite software, so that it may also benefit the authors and can be reproduced (ie version used is missing or similar).

* Would the CSC docs be a good place to add ##Citation to the app pages, at least for those apps that have a 'offically preferred' citation? (some already have it 👍 so wondering how you in general think about it )
* Or would it make sense to have a function in the module (similar to R's citation("package")) that prints citation information for current module/packages?
-> I understand that above would require some work to provide, but at least it would be work that would then not be done by all users that need to cite software used
* Or could there by a general page about how and why to cite software (and make own software citable)?

* What do you think?

(some info: http://www.ijdc.net/index.php/ijdc/article/view/11.2.48 , https://www.software.ac.uk/how-cite-software?_ga=1.54830891.1882560887.1489012280 , 'the other side' : https://coderefinery.github.io/social-coding/software_citation/ )

-> Some applications have it already ✔️
-> Some applications have a publication that could be cited under References: A sentence could be added to make users more aware of that software, especially research software can and should be cited?

from @rkronberg : "Citing software" section under Applications with some general guidelines?
