I can't see any reason to suggest why our site should require much Javascript. Maybe bootstrap is important to the style, we should at least look into updating that dependency. I think we could consider making this a proper NPM package so that we can let github notify us when new updates are released.

Extending this issue, in the past it was convenient to keep this project to hosting purely static files. Now that we have docker and can easily deploy "anything" that is no longer a constraint.

In the past I've liked using Go html/template. That's what we use in https://github.com/COSI-Lab/Mirror
