Enhanced and flexible system Icons

Could we come up with a more robust and flexible icon system if we implemented them in a mix-and-match/paperdoll fashion?

I'm thinking we might be able to offer a smaller icon set that could be combined to create double the icons with customization opportunities.

Example:

<IconSquircle fill="green">
    <IconPlus fill="yellow" />
</IconSquircle>

And you'd have a yellow plus inside a green squircle icon you could use.

This would allow teams to fashion their own icon set within the parameters of the design system (no local overrides to get a path fill the way they want).
