After update, I still experience crash on startup, last working version is v2.21.0, running on Windows 7 x64.

Hi @janturon, thanks for this report. Can you test with the beta for 2.22.2? It can be downloaded here: https://github.com/Automattic/simplenote-electron/releases/tag/v2.22.2-beta.5

Is there any kind of error message logged when this happens?

Hi @codebykat Yes, the install crash persists in 2.22.2-beta5. I get this error report after install
image
which in Czech translates as "parameter is not correct". After attempt to run the app, I get a message "Simplenote is not a valid application win32". This applies to both beta.5-x64.exe and beta.5.exe install files.

Ah, thanks for this info. Unfortunately it looks like Electron, which is part of the packaging toolchain here, no longer supports Windows 7 and 8 as of the end of 2022: https://www.electronjs.org/blog/windows-7-to-8-1-deprecation-notice

If v2.21.0 was working for you, I'd suggest downgrading to that. You can download the executables here: https://github.com/Automattic/simplenote-electron/releases/tag/v2.21.0

You can also uninstall the app and instead log into Simplenote from a web browser, bookmarking https://app.simplenote.com . Depending on your browser version there may still be some incompatibilities, but it's worth a try.
