Due to lack of time and change in my priorities and tech stack, I decided to limit time I am going to spend for developing AntiMicroX.
For now, this app will have only limited support and will not get any new features (unless coded by external contributors).

I think you can just go to already opened issues with label "good first issue" and try to implement one of them.

Please check BUILD readme, there all required dependencies.

I’m running into some problems with MSVC on Windows.

I won't help you with that, because I don't use Windows. Windows is a terrible OS for software development.
In your case using msys2 may help (you can try to recreate environment from CI config).

IDE, and extensions

Vscode, extensions should automatically show after opening this repo in vscode
